TEE BALL STARTED!

When you talk to Kason it is Tee Ball, not baseball...it is so cute when he says that.  At any rate, his first game was this past wednesday so I took a MUCH needed break during the move and went over to watch him.  Overall he did well.  He needs some practice and definitely needs to focus before he gets hurt.  Some of these kids have a gun for an arm and they have no control...so if you are not paying attention (which Kason tends to do sometimes) you can get hit and hurt.  A ball came inches from hitting the back of MY head while I was walking down the sidelines.  Dangerous if you ask me :)

He seems to like it as well.  I am letting him test out alot of sports now to see what he really enjoys and wants to do!

LONG TIME NO BLOG...

I can't believe it has been almost a month sine my last update.  SORRY!  It has just been really hectic with the house work, Kason starting TeeBall, etc..

Also the house was in cover up mode for quite some time so pictures were not really interested.  Once the wood floors were redone and granite counters put in we covered everything up to prime, paint, etc..  Each new room had to be painted FOUR times...two coats of primer, one coat of ceiling paint and two coats of color.  So that was taking up ALOT of time.  We also had an issue with one of the color we (really I) picked.  I color matched a benjamin moore color- Smokey Taupe to a Valspar color and it came out WAY TOO DARK!  This color was going to be used in the family room, hallway, stairs and living room.  Well I did the stairs and both Jon and I agreed it was too dark.  We did not want the downstairs to look like a cave.  So, even though I wanted a distinct color on the walls we decided to go with an off white to keep the rooms looking large and bright.  I was dissappointed but I am glad that it does not look like a cave!!  We also did not want it to be too matchy to the dining room/kitchen color since the living/dining rooms are so close.

Here are pics of refinished hardwoods:

I will try to get some new pictures soon...problem now is that everything is piled up in the rooms since we moved out of storage this past weekend...so until we are settled I will probably hold off on pictures.  Not everything is going our way or the way I had pictured but I am living with it.  I get upset at first then start to calm down.  I need some second opinions on a few things as well...like is my chandelier, which I really wanted sooo badly- TOO BIG?  And does it hang too low?  I can't have it any higher or it would look funny...wish I took a pictures to show...time will tell and I will just have to live with some of these things!

Here is pic of some of the kitchen cabinets with hardware on, from a few weeks ago...no countertop pics yet...sorry!

And the shower stall downstairs:

I will try to update sooner rather than later next time!

Kitchen Cabinets Are In !!!

WAHOOO...the kitchen cabinets are in!  I am so happy with them.  Thank you Jon and CB for your patience installing them :))  Here are some pictures of the current state, still needs lots of finishing touches (toekick, crown molding and hardware) but looking better:

And I am loving some of this cabinet space (considering I don't have much of it):

Sneak peak of countertop, cabinet and floor...loving it.  You can slightly see the glaze on the cabinets as well:

Can you say transformation:

ALSO...here is a picture of my loving peel and stick tile job from last weekend...not perfect, but MUCH BETTER than the previous.  Not done yet, still need caulk and quarter round molding:

Lastly a Congrats to my friend Erin who got engaged today...Congrats Er!!  Best of luck!  Same goes for my two New Jersey Besties, Lisa and Nick, who got engaged right before I started the blog...9/4/10- I can't wait!

Weekend of Tiling...

This past weekend was TILING...oh so much fun, ask Jon, he loves it (especially when his new wet saw breaks)...not really.  BUT, it did turn out GREAT.  The kitchen floor is done, grout and everything.  The pictures do not show how pretty the tile really is but hopefully I can get better pictures with my DSLR and post them soon.

KITCHEN:

The bathroom is still waiting to be grouted but you can see how great it is going to look.

BATHROOM:

Now, I have no pictures of my tile job...not as fancy as Jon's work, that's for sure.  I did peel and stick tiles in our upstairs bathroom.  It is a temporary fix until we have time/money to renovate that bath (a couple of years I hope, I am done with renovations for now).  The tile was a terrible green, now it is a neutral color.  And even though it was peel and stick it took me about 5 hours because 98% of all the tiles had to be cut :(

Next up...KITCHEN CABINETS... (my favorite), can't wait to see them in place!!  We picked out our granite this past weekend as well.  Settled on Giallo Ornamental (this is not our actual slab, just a sample):

A week later and WE HAVE WALLS!!!

Well it has been one week since my last posting and WE HAVE WALLS!  Once again, Jon is working overtime on this project (I sure do miss him at home).  With the help of CB and Esteban he has knocked out ALOT in a week.  Walls are up in the Kitchen, Family Room, Dining Room, Bathroom downstairs and Stairway.  The only room left to drywall is the family room and that can't be done until the kitchen is done because it looks like this:

That would be our appliances and kitchen cabinets!

Here are some pictures of the amazing progress.  I could not be more excited:

And we have a new front door!!  Love it!  Thankfully it opens to the right, the old door opened to the left, right into the stairs.  Also an perk is...it doesn't lock everytime you shut the door!  The old door automatically locked when you closed the door, thus locking us out numerous times!!

Here is a sneak peak of our kitchen tile.  I LOVE IT...

I am really getting excited watching this all come together.  I feel bad because I can't help as much at this point.  I can't hang drywall or spackle.  So I am TRYING to tackle the upstairs scary old bathroom (a temp fix until we have time/money to demo and rebuild it).

Sucessful St. Patrick's Day!!

Yesterday was a productive day at the house. Jon, Chuck and Esteban were able to bang out most of the ceiling drywall on the first floor and start the walls in the kitchen. We are thinking we are about 1/2 way through the renovation!! I hope we stay on track. I really want to be in the new house and settled by April 17th...the opening day of Kason's tee ball league. I can hope...right :))

Here are some progress pics:

I was stuck painting the closet in the master bedroom...I never want to paint it again...from the outside, it looks like a small closet:

Don't be deceived though, when you go to the right there is another section with a bench and shelf...what a pain it was to paint...it is not perfect but heck...IT IS A CLOSET :)

Now to leave off here are two adorable little girls (Casey and Hailey) showing their St. Patty's Day Spirit!!  SOOO CUTE:

Jon ROCKS!!! (New Back Door)

Jon had done a great job and I know he will make our house look absolutely amazing.  That is because he is extremely talented AND HE LISTENS TO ME!  I was surprised when I walked into the house yesterday and found him installing a new back door.  The part that I was most excited about was...THE DOORKNOB!

There are times when I am not sure he listens to me, especially when I am going on and on and on about decor and paint, etc....  Well he was listening because he got a oil rubbed bronze door knob...PERFECT.  The hardware on the kitchen cabinets will be the same color as will the faucet.  I am not sure why I am so excited about this but I am!

The house is finally turning toward getting better, rather than worse!  WAHHHOOO!  Today the dumpster is getting picked up and the electrician starts!  I never thought I would be so excited about this kind of stuff!

Pics of the door and oil rubbed bronze knob :))
